    Olav’s Birthday party!!! Free entrance!!
    Priceduifkes)
What happens when 3 clueless punks pick up guitars and drums they can't play, start covering songs they don't know and fail at scoring chicks time after time? Well, in this case they evolved in an unstoppable punkrock machine we know as The Priceduifkes! They have been around a couple years now, working themselves up in the Belgian punkrock scene, never forgetting what the Ramones and the Nobodys were all about. With 200 shows played with bands such as The Dwarves, Black Lips and The Copyrights, 3 records out and a bright looking future in front of them, those kids are not planning to stop spreading their nihilistic 3-chord anthems to a world dominated by punk bands playing emo and emo bands playing metal. All hail to the Price motherfucking Duifkes!

    + The Gohards!

Although it looks like these kids have just come out of the basement, they have a convincing sound of their own, somewhere between CIRCLE JERKS, FLIPPER and BRUTAL KNIGHTS. (Batarang)

    EVERYTHING MUST GO (us)
"Oakland's best band in years, Everything Must Go combines a healthy love for the Dead Boys and Turbonegro's Apocalypse Dudes with their own twisted, catchy take on life from around the bend. Yes, it's got the requisite number of Oakland punk veterans to boast the songwriting talent and punk rock riffs that other bands would kill for-think Christ on Parade's "Pressure to Succeed" crossed with Fang's "The Money Will Roll Right In." All of this makes Everything Must Go much more than just another band whose lead singer blows himself up every show with a jacket of fireworks in a series of pills-and-alcohol-fueled explosions! Yes, you read that right-he blows himself up onstage. There's no way this record couldn't be frickin' great."

    Anti-You
Absolutely ripping early ‘80 style hardcore from Italy. Easily up there in caliber with the top current bands playing this style, like GOVERNMENT WARNING, CAREER SUICIDE and DIRECT CONTROL. The speed and power of SS DECONTROL, with the hooks of ARTICLES OF FAITH, this shit really is worth tracking down.

    + Lost Boys
the boys are abck with 2 new tunes of pissed, yet catchy, hardcore/punk (think Circle Jerks, Angry Samoans, Government Warning,...)

    SPIDER BABIES (us)

FORMED FROM THE REMAINS OF THE UNDERTAKERS IN 1992 BY DEMENTED MASTER MIND KEVIN "THE STALKER" SHAPEN, THE SPIDER BABIES DRANK,FUCKED, AND FOUGHT THEIR WAY INTO THE "GARAGE HALL OF FAME" BY DOING WHAT THEY DO BEST, DRINKIN',FUCKIN', AND FIGHTIN'. OH YEAH, AND A WHOLE LOTTA ROCKIN'! BUT WHAT REALLY SETS THE SPIDER BABIES APART FROM OTHER "GARAGE" BANDS IS THEIR "TRUE TILL DEATH", NO NON-SENSE APPROACH TO ROCK AND ROLL, MIXING 50'S TRASH, 60'S PUNK GRINDERS, 77' SLEAZE, AND A SHIT LOAD OF SEX AND VIOLENCE

    + Butcher Boogie
The Butcher Boogie story started way back in 2002 when 4 friends, Greg, Benjamin, Benny and Alex decided to start up a new band. Greg, Benja and Benny had just stopped with the legendary Brussels band Bad Gutter Rats and were ready for something new. They came up with the catchy sounding name Butcher Boogie and a new super band was born! They were joined by a second guitarist, Mike, and after a period of heavy rehearsing and songwriting they did they're first gig in Charlerloi in the summer of 2003 and were immediatly very well received by the audience, especially the local drunks and punks.

Since that day there have been many notorious moments. The band has won a 'battle of the bands' contest in Woluwe, has had a real battle in Bastognme with their best friends the cops, has had two record sessions in studio and has put out a vinyl split-single together with Eddy Tornado et les Scandaleux. They also appeared on the compilation CD "Masscres Belges" along with bands like Driving Dead Girl, Sport Doen, Uler's and Bad Preachers.

Since then there have also been some changes in the line-up! Alex left because of a busy private life and was replaced by a refugee from Limburg, Timmie. Mike also left because of health problems and was replaced by Didier, who later also left...he was replaced by Jan, and old Bad Gutter Rat too.

Jan is replaced now by original member Alex who moved from drums to guitar. And the adventure goes on...

    Rush’n Attack (nl)

This Dutch outfit offers a stylistic blender mix that for the most part surprises, but only gradually wins you over. Tense, twangy lead guitar plays over screamed vocals with a Henry Rollins intensity. The arrangements have a tight, MINUTEMEN flavor, though RUSH'N ATTACK cleary err on the side of hardcore. The end result is fairly original, and i'd be willing to bid that they'd be a thrilling live band.

    + FUNDAMENTAL (be)

You can tell these guys have not just been worshipping their influences imagining how cool they would look like on stage playing this kind of music, but they have obviously been listening carefully and that is giving them a headstart towards competition. En plus, they are the prototype of a real hardcoreband: not pretending to be groundbreaking, but taking what they know and doing what they can to give that anger and frustration inside a voice and a let-out. And most importantly, despite some minor flaws, pulling it off. One can only hope they won't be the next band in line to call it quits before ever having the chance to come into its own, because if this recording figures as a herald for things to come, chances are they still have a lot more in store.

    NO SLOGAN (us)

No Slogan is a Chicago punk band. Begun in 2002 [sic?] by, among others, members of Los Jodidos, they’ve been playing catchy, mid-tempo punk similar to Bhopal Stiffs, Articles of Faith, (fill in other past Chicago punk bands here) ever since. After two 7”s-the first, “National Threat,” on Southkore Records, the second, “No Pasaran,” on Wrench in the Gears-their first lp came out last year on Residue Records.

    DIET PILLS (uk)

Diet Pills are a strange breed, in a scene whose veins are clogged with forgettable, convention following tripe this band carve a different path. The two tracks found here perfectly meld the sounds of Flipper, Jesus Lizard and Nuerosis into a monstrously spastic cacophony, wrestling the listener to the floor with the weight of their untamed, bass heavy fuzz. The unhinged David Yow styled vocals set off the mix perfectly, wailing and shrieking through percussive riffing without ever becoming a parody of the Jesus Lizard’s howler.

    THE HEX DISPENSERS (us)

As expectations are set high for most second albums, Hex Dispensers definitely don't disappoint as they bust out vigorous, infectiously-driven high-speed pop jams that stick to your soul and drive you wild with wanton exuberance. The earthshaking drums, slashing guitars, and those irresistible vocal hooks may even evoke the finest moments of contemporaries the Marked Men, and man o' man is that ever a slice of heaven, but Hex Dispensers easy one-up their contemporaries with nary a broken sweat. They even cover one of my all-time favorite DEVO songs, "Gates of Steel" and crush it's particles into a death ray of uninhibited power, as they don't just cover it like they did with Tubeway Army on their debut, they make it their own. Everything from the immaculate sleeve design to the beautiful splattered platter exudes eye-catching brilliance, so do the pop-side of your mind a real favor and grab this LP before your chest caves in from the inevitable lack of blood pumping that results from not having this incredible Hex Dispensers LP at hand.

    + Harlan T Bobo

The new Americana. Dylan meets Waits meets lost love by the railroad tracks. Backed by members of the Reigning Sound, F*ck and Viva l’American Deathray Music, and recorded at Easley McCain Studio, Harlan’s record has already been hailed as the best Memphis record of the last five years by the Memphis Flyer. And rightfully so- it’s a purely, perfectly American album, wide open and alone with touches of melancholy, paranoia, loneliness, despair and simple hope coloring every little moment. Love will do that to you.

    http://www.myspace.com/harlantbobo
+ John Paul Keith & The One Four Fives

When singer, songwriter and guitarist John Paul Keith arrived in Memphis in 2005, he was ready to quit music. At the ripe old age of 29, Keith had decided he’d had enough.
You could hardly blame him. Less than a decade in the music business and he’d already left one group just as they were on the cusp of national success, signed a major label deal only to see the resulting album shelved, and watched another band he’d built run off with a different singer.
Fortunately, Keith didn’t give up. In fact, he found sustenance in the Memphis music scene and decided to stick it out. Tonight, his fast-rising roots-rock band, The One Four Fives, celebrates the release of its debut album, Spills and Thrills, with a show at the Hi-Tone Café.
The 33-year old Keith first emerged in the mid-’90s out of Knoxville’s tiny music scene, which was flourishing with major labels courting bands like the Judybats, Superdrag and the Viceroys — the latter group formed by Keith with fellow singer-songwriter Scott Miller. The Viceroys (who later changed their name to the V-Roys) were a loose, fearless country pop outfit whose wild sets often took long detours into a succession of Roger Miller rarities. They were heralded among the new wave of alt-country bands.
The group was soon courted by Nashville maverick Steve Earle to sign to his label, E-Squared.

    TOTAL ABUSE (us)

"Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got Total Abuse’s Sex Pig EP on Deranged Records of Canada. This crew have been making waves as of late with their fucking crushing self-titled LP, but Sex Pig pre-dates it by a year or so, and while they’ve evolved into an absolute destroyer of a band, the seeds of their havoc were definitely planted here: Seven tracks in (just over) seven minutes and utter sonic obliteration a la Violent Apathy or D.R.I. or something equally as muddy and demented. These are still available from the label and from a few scant distributors, but not sure for how long, so if you are into it, better grab one."

The Spivs - Kleinkinderen van The Clash aan het feest
    Geschreven door Ollie Nollet -

    The Spivs
    Pit's
    Kortrijk
    24-04-2010

    Organisatie: Pit’s, Kortrijk
